Queso
Blanco is a fresh,
sweet, mild and moist cheese. It is wonderful to cook with because unlike American
cheese, it will become soft and creamy when heated but will not melt! Great
for cooking stuffed chicken breasts, stuffed peppers, enchiladas and burritos.
For a delicious snack, fry cheese on a hot, nonstick skillet.
Queso Quesadilla is a semi-soft, ivory, creamy,
buttery, mild cheese. Melt on a tortilla for an easy, delicious quesadilla -
a family favorite! It's great for cheesier, grilled cheese sandwiches, nachos,
hamburgers, enchiladas or sandwiches.
Queso Fresco is a fresh, sweet, hand-ground cheese
with a crumbly texture and has similar characteristics as Queso Blanco. It is
very popular as a garnish crumbled over salads or on refried beans. Can be used
as a topping on a favorite dish, tacos, meats, fruit and desserts, or even layered
in lasagna.
Cotija is a dry, firm, crumbly cheese with a sharp,
robust flavor. Cotija is the Parmesan of the Latino world. It's frequently
used to add a lively garnish to common dishes. Simply sprinkle or crumble on
top of refried beans, salads, pasta, steamed vegetables or soups.
Manchego is a semi-soft, light yellow, slightly
sweet, nutty-flavored cheese with a smooth, rich, buttery texture. Dice in salads
and vegetable dishes, or enjoy with wine. Melts well in cooking and is delicious
as a snacking or sandwich cheese.
Enchilado is a firm, pressed, white cheese rolled
in paprika giving it a colorful rind. It can be shredded or grated, and is a
great way to add color and flavor to your dishes such as enchiladas, burritos
and tacos.
Asadero is a smooth, soft cheese. This cheese is
used in much the same manner as Quesadilla; however, the flavor is somewhat
milder. Popular as a snack or as a sandwich cheese, too.
